Farm Caretaker
Job Description
- Strict adherence to Hubbard Bio-Security and Animal Welfare standards.
- Remove hens from nesting boxes while gathering eggs
- Move birds as appropriate to collect eggs in nesting and outside of nesting boxes
- Record the number of eggs collected.
- Successfully transfer flats of eggs from the barn without damage or breakage.
- Maintain sanitary conditions in the egg wash room
- Ensure continuous fresh drinking water within the facilities.
- Maintain proper sanitary operating conditions including:
- Disinfecting Drinkers daily
- Monitor and troubleshoot issues with feed lines, drinkers, fans, barns, nest doors
- Properly organize facility entrances, barns, nests, and any other area of the proper to Hubbard appearance standards
- Guide movement of birds within the house
- Identify and treat conditions effecting bird health such as mites
Skills and Abilities
- Understand oral and written instructions, perform tasks with strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Understanding of safety protocol and demonstrated ability to work within safety standards
- Comfortable with the use of instruments to gather and record data (example: hand held scanners, tablets and desktop computers)
- Reading and writing comprehension in English to follow basic procedures and communicate information.
Physical Requirements
- Work with chemicals, such as detergents, disinfectants
- Standing for extended periods of time (6 hours)
- Grip, grasp or twist using hands and wrists
- Lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to 50lbs
- Bend and stoop repetitively throughout out shift
- Prolonged exposure to dry and dusty environments
